Talescape at the Lavra
“Talescape at the Lavra” is a series of live readings of Ukrainian fairy tales for children, held in the heart of Ukraine’s spiritual and cultural heritage — the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
The project is organized by the NGO “Holosy” and the National Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve.
In this project, the fairy tale is not merely entertainment — it is a way to access wisdom, imagination, and meaning through the power of the spoken word. The readings include texts rich in imagery, depth, and values: Ukrainian folk tales, original stories, parables, and poetic narratives.
At the core is content that helps shape a child’s inner world — kindness, compassion, strength in gentleness, and the ability to see the essence of things.
GOAL:
To create a high-quality cultural initiative featuring professional actors, promoting Ukrainian literature and oral storytelling as an essential part of intangible cultural heritage.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:
-
To convey to children the profound meanings embedded in Ukrainian folk and authorial tales, nurturing values of kindness, empathy, and life wisdom;
-
To develop emotional sensitivity, imagination, and the capacity for compassion among young audiences;
-
To affirm the fairy tale as a tool for discovery and understanding — not merely entertainment;
-
To elevate the act of listening to live literary storytelling as a meaningful cultural and spiritual experience.
The project follows a chamber, focused format.
All tales are read by professional actors.
These are readings that stay with children — not as didactic lessons, but as traces of light in their consciousness.
