Mariupol Unbroken – An International Art Project Preserving the Memory and Strength of a Resilient City

“Mariupol Unbroken” is a unique international artistic project, launched in June 2022 in the city of Mariupol itself. This project is more than just an exhibition – it is an artistic front that unites artists from all over Ukraine and the world, who express their support for Mariupol and Ukraine’s fight for freedom through their works.

Today, the project includes over 100 works by renowned and emerging artists, representing various styles and genres. Despite their differences, all these pieces share a common theme – they are dedicated either to Mariupol itself or to the phenomenon of resilience and the fight for life and freedom.

The project has already gained international recognition and has been exhibited in multiple cities across Ukraine and Europe, serving as a cultural bridge between nations, an artistic testimony of war, and a symbol of the unwavering strength of the Ukrainian people.

Geography of the International Art Project “Mariupol Unbroken”

The first exhibition was held in June 2022 in Mariupol, under occupation. Since then, the project has grown significantly in scale and has expanded its reach, exhibiting in major galleries, cultural institutions, and government venues across different countries.

📍 Kyiv, Ukraine

  • June 28 – July 17, 2022 – Kyiv House of Artists, featuring two collections: “Mariupol – The Soul of Ukraine” and “Unbreakable Ukraine”.
  • August 21, 2023 – Kyiv Municipal Art Gallery “Lavra”.
  • May 9 – June 4, 2024 – Academy of Contemporary Art Issues, Kyiv.
  • November 2, 2024 – Dovzhenko Center, Kyiv, a collaboration between NGO “Voices” and the international art project “Mariupol Unbroken”.

📍 Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine

  • July 28, 2022 – Opening of the exhibition at the Museum of Arts of Prykarpattia, where the exhibition was displayed for several months.
